Kansas City, MO,  Nov. 28

A speeding automobile today struck and killed JF HOULEHAN, 66, wealthy Kansas City realtor and prominent Catholic layman. Houlehan was a Charter 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus and held the degree of Knight of St. Gregory, conferred by the Pope in 1924. He came to Kansas City at the age of 18 and from Crawfordsville, Indiana and built up the Houlehan Realty Co. of which he was president. T he widow, a brother, Thomas Houlehan of Crawfordsville and a sister, Mrs. Mary Stotts of Aurora, Illinois survive. T he driver of the car, Hugh Elmore, Negro, 26 was placed under arrest. James F. HOULEHAN, prominent Kansas City relator and brother of Thomas J. Houlehan of this city was born near Crawfordsville. He spent the early years of his life with his family on the farm NW of the city. When still quite a young man he went to Kansas City where he has since made his home. During his many years of residence there he had amassed a considerable fortune in the real estate business. The death of Mr. Houlehan recalls the tragic deaths of two of his brother, Michael and Charles who preceded him in death several years ago. Michael Houlehan lost his life when he was shot by a burglar while Charles Houlehan died as the result of a kick received from a horse on his farm near Kansas City. He was one of Kansas City's leading business men and for many years had taken a deep interest in his city's welfare. He was also greatly interested in the Catholic Church of which he was a devout member. The prominence that he had attained in the church and Knights of Columbus is shown by the degrees that were conferred upon him. The funeral services will be held in Kansas City on either Monday or Tuesday, according to a message received here by the brother, Thomas J. Houlehan. The burial is expected to take place in Kansas City as his brothers Michael and Charles are buried there.
